Business Economists Raise 2010 Growth Outlook - FOXBusiness.com
Leading economists who just last month declared the end of the recession, which began in December 2007, but warned of continued job struggles, said today in a new survey the economy is poised to add jobs “within the next few months.”
The survey from the National Association for Business Economics reaffirmed the October assertion the recession is over.
“While the recovery has been jobless so far, that should soon change,” said NABE President Lynn Reaser, chief economist at Point Loma Nazarene University. “Within the next few months, companies should be adding instead of cutting jobs.”
I know that it has been really hard for so many. Just keep making those connections and networking with everyone. Polish up your resumes and interview skills.

AOL Looking to Cut One-Third of Workforce
AOL Looking to Cut One-Third of Workforce - FOXBusiness.com
AOL said Thursday it plans to slash one-third of its overall workforce over the next several months as the Internet content provider restructures amid its spinoff from media giant Time Warner (TWX).
The company, which employs about 4,500 U.S. workers, said it is looking for about 2,500 volunteers for a voluntary layoff program set to run from Dec. 4 to Dec. 11. However, if AOL doesn’t reach that target it said it will need to do involuntary layoffs.
Considering the state of jobs, I don't see many of the employees taking the voluntary packages. Most will hold on to their jobs until they are laid off involuntarily. The packages for the voluntary separation program would have to be really sweet before people will take them.

Click on the blog title for the entire article.
For all the pain caused by the Great Recession, the job market still was not in as bad shape as it had been during the depths of the early 1980s recession — until now.
Nearly 16 million people are now unemployed and more than seven million jobs have been lost since late 2007.

11 Months of Unemployment: A Quest
As of 11/5, I have been unemployed for 11 months. I am not bitter about my situation and look forward to a brighter future. The future I look at is one of stability, sustainability and peace. I believe that I am on a quest to find an opportunity to find that position that will challenge me and that I will recognized as a dedicated and hardworking individual who has morals and will not compromise them. I am looking for that company that is the same way.
I have worked for only a handful of companies that have highly developed business ethics. These companies believe in their employees. They do not treat employees as fodder for layoffs. They employ people who respect one another and don't "throw others under the bus". In fact, that phrase is never used by the employees. Each employee helps one another.
It may seem like an impossible dream, but I believe that there are companies still out there that exemplify the best that man can achieve. So, I continue to look. During this period of my life, I realize that I have compromised myself by settling for those companies that do not care for their employees.
In the past, companies did care about their employees and they took care of them. Employees remained loyal to them and they worked in the same companies until they retired from them. What has happened? We all compromised and we became complacent. We allowed this to occur.
Music has a way of summing up the way I feel. Take a look at this video. I hope it brings you some comfort. Think about the words as you listen.

Outsourcing and Equalizing
I was reading an article regarding the outsourcing of jobs to lower cost countries and its conclusion that it equalizes the world and is better. I guess it depends on how you look at it. If you are the one that has his job outsourced in order for a company to save a few dollars, then I guess it isn't a great idea. For companies, outsourcing is a way of life for most corporations.
Don't get me wrong. I believe in the free market; however, I have been unemployed for a little over 11 months. My prospects in finding a job have been improving. Unemployment is a lagging indicator of the economy. It takes longer the unemployment rate to drop. Companies do not start hiring employees immediately. So, it is taking longer and longer for people to find jobs.
As I had mentioned months ago, I am against the greed of big business and the use of layoffs to meet some corporate metric. If you were to ask me how to solve a corporation's financial problems, I have some great ideas to help a company survive and prosper WITHOUT laying people off. By watching spending and hiring, a company can survive and make it.
The other thing is that I'm tired of hearing about helping out the rest of the world. With unemployment now sitting at 10.2%, I think American workers should come first.

Productivity Jumps Higher as Job Losses Show Drop
Productivity Jumps Higher as Job Losses Show Drop - FOXBusiness.com
U.S. non-farm productivity in the third quarter rose at its fastest pace in six years as companies squeezed more output from a smaller pool of labor and cut costs to deal with a slump in demand, government data showed on Thursday.
The Labor Department said non-farm productivity surged at a 9.5% annual rate, the quickest pace since the third quarter of 2003. Productivity grew at a 6.9% pace in the April-June period.
I have been getting more calls and interviews. Things are starting to improve. For those of you who are still unemployed, stay the course. Never say, "I quit."
