Using LinkedIn for More Than Jobs
So, don't just use it to find a job or business opportunity and then put it aside. You need to constantly work in building your network and develop deeper connections.

Cost of Health Care
Health care is costly when you take a look at the actual prices. I have talked with private practice doctors who are seriously considering moving to cash only. They would be able to reduce their overhead cost and offer a 30% reduction in their patient bills. When you consider the average private practice, there are more people in the billing department than there are seeing patient for medical reasons.
With the economy teetering on the edge of a double-dip recession, it is my honest opinion that health care will drag the economy down and cause more layoffs and businesses to go bankrupt.

Unemployment Could Rise?
Consumers are still very nervous and they are, from what I can see, paying off their debt and learning to live within their budgets. One thing that is weighing heavily on the minds of consumers is the possible expiration of the George Bush tax cuts. If they expire, I think we will see a double-dip recession.
I am not a MBA from Harvard, but I can see what is going over the dining room tables of American families. They are scared. Dad is afraid that he will lose his job and have to try to find one. If he does, it will be a low-paying position without benefits. Mom is looking to slash the family budget as much as possible.
I wish our government would learn the lessons of American families. Spend less!

1 Month of Being Employed
As I think back to the almost 17 months of unemployment, I cannot help but think of all of the other people that I have met along my travels who were unemployed. The national unemployment rate stands at 9.9%. The national underemployed rate stands at 17.1%. With those staggering numbers, it is very difficult for me to take my job for granted. It has been and continues to be a gift to us.
To this day, I still receive letters from those who have lost their jobs. All asking for words of encouragement. They have asked for prayers and, in some cases, financial help. Even when I was unemployed, we, as a family, helped those who needed help. We gave what we could to help to those families who would not have had a Christmas. We provided meals and food and paid utility bills to keep electricity and water on for them.
Why did we do these things? We had received many blessings from our family. I don't consider people as friends anymore. I consider them as family. As family, we come together to help one another. There were times when we didn't know when or if the next dollar would come. However, during this period, God blessed us and continued to hold us in His hands. Nothing slipped through His hands. We never missed a mortgage payment or an utility bill. We continued to pay our car payments and now, we have no car payments. Yes, we paid off the last car payment one year early. Due to the lessons we had learned regarding stewardship, we have paid off all of our credit card debt. Yes, even when we were not sure about our financial future, we were still able to pull together as a family.
We learned how and when to shop for deals on meat. If we dined out, we ate at McDonald's. We shopped at WalMart. In fact, we continue to do it today. We learned to live within our means and not beyond it. We economized wherever we could and continue to be good stewards of the gifts given to us by God.
Why are we continuing this? Yes, I have a job, but I refuse to abuse or take for granted that precious gift given to us by God. The opportunity I have is a very special one and I will not take it for granted. We continue to serve our family at Lakeline Oaks Retirement Community and those in need at the clinics. It is through that service to both families that we bring honor and glory to Him.

Jesse has a Job and is Employed!
Over this long period of time, my family and I have received so many emails, words of encouragement, gifts and blessings. We cannot count the number of blessings that we have received.
We remained faithful to God and continued to serve Him. He blessed us and provided for us each and every day. We continue to serve Him and will continue to serve Him by blessing those around us who need help.
More than 44% of the unemployed have been unemployed for more than 6 months. I know what they are going through. I will always help those who need assistance.
Once again, thank you for your help and support. We could not have made it without your prayers.
